Linda Mayberry-Chavez

In 1998, I married my husband Carlos Chavez. I'm a Sacramento native and we moved to Sonoma County in the Fall of 2000. We both were professionals in our careers in Ventura County when we decided to become entrepreneurs and after some research and business development, we realized Healdsburg would become home for us.

I attended junior college and worked full time for a Biotechnology firm, prior to finishing my Bachelor’s degree from University of Phoenix.

I hold a designation as a Senior Professional in Human Resources, and an inaugural designation as a Professional in Human Resources, CA labor law emphasis.

By day, I work as an HR consultant for our risk management firm and do Sales and Marketing for our wine brand, Chavez Family Cellars.

I've been an active volunteer since I was a kid and have served in the past on the Board and Grant Making Committee of the Community Foundation Sonoma County-HAF now known as Healdsburg Forever for 11 years.

I’m a Past President of the Soroptimist International, an organization whose mission is to improve the lives of women and girls.

Our primary business provides compliance services to wine grape growers and wine producers. In the process of working in the industry, we caught the bug and began making wine in our garage.

In 2004, we had our first daughter, Carlin Marisol Chavez

In 2006, we took a big leap and launched our own commercial wine brand, Chavez Family Cellars.

In 2009, we went on to have our second daughter, Elsa Marina Chavez. This is the year we also released our Cabernet Sauvignon, as we both barrel and bottle age our Cabernet prior to release to the public for consumption and our Sauvignon Blanc, Elsa’s Blend.

We have won gold medals at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair for our aptly named 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon "Carlin's Blend" four times and recently won a gold medal at the Press Democrat’s North Coast Food and Wine Challenge for our 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon. We were also awarded a “Best in Class” designation in 2014 from the Sonoma County Fair in addition to the Gold Medal recognition.

Over the course of the past several years, we have been pouring at some of the finest non-profit events including PDI's Make a Kid Smile, The Hispanic Chamber of Sonoma County Scholarship Galas, and the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Unity reception.

In the past we have also poured wine on behalf of the Northern Sonoma County Healthcare Foundation, Wine, Women and Shoes and were an inaugural wine partner with 5 other wine partners and did so for 5 years, before the event was exclusively taken over by Constellation Brands. We also poured our wine for their Noche de Amor event.

My connection to my community runs deep, and I actively served on the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts Board and Latino Advisory Council for 6 years. I helped with seeking donors for the Mariachi program that in its infancy was a 3 week free summer camp in an underserved Latino community and it is now a touring ensemble and for hire, as well as being an active member of their major fundraiser planning committee for Art of Dessert.

I received a government appointment from Supervisor James Gore to the esteemed County Committee on Community Development Commission in 2015.

I have walked for campaigns that champion important initiatives on behalf of our Latino community, to include Supervisor James Gore 4th District Sonoma County Supervisor, Herman G. Hernandez for Area 5 for County School Board Trustee, the first ever elected Latina Santa Rosa Junior College Board of Trustee, Dra. Mariana Martinez and most recently first ever elected Latino Sonoma County Superior Court Judge, Oscar Pardo.

Currently, I serve on the Sonoma County Committee on School District Organization and serve as the Madrina for Miss Latina Wine Country since 2015.

I enjoy connecting with others to help build community and attend many programs and events that resonate with my strong desire for there to be equity in all realms, whether that be socially, economically, educationally, artistically and for there to be equal access to quality healthcare, housing, environment and the arts.

I like that our brand, Chavez Family Cellars, is known as the artisan winery that gives back to community because you will see us pouring wine at many community events at a reduced cost or free of charge. In addition, to attending the event and then making a monetary contribution.

We produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and a Rose de Cabernet.

We do plan to increase our production as right now we produce just under 1,500 cases in total each vintage.
