Karla Garcia

Born in Diriamba, Nicaragua, Karla Garcia and her family immigrated to the United States in 1985 after fleeing the Sandinistas regime's dictatorship. Her family moved to Houston for a couple of years before finally relocating to San Francisco. She finished high school and attended San Francisco State University, majoring in Political Science with a minor in Communications.

However, Karla's true calling was in business and finance, which led to her and her husband to open a pastry and bakery company. Growing up, she would spend hours in the kitchen with her grandmother, who loved to bake and taught her the art of baking and designing pastries. Her husband is also a pastry chef and specializes in gelatin designs. Together, with their unique combination of talents and passion, they created a small business commissioned to train chefs from organizations such as Stanford University, San Francisco County Health Services, and many more.

Aside from teaching the art of baking, Karla has used her first-hand experiences of overcoming challenges, discrimination, and adversities while going to school and building a business to teach low-income women and youth of every ethnicity to be more independent, self-sufficient, and not be afraid to chase their dreams.

With this passion and heart for community and helping those in need, Karla has used her platform on television through the Azteca America Show and five radio shows. She is a featured presenter that discusses her business and the charitable causes dear to her heart. She has created scholarships for women and children who are survivors of domestic violence and in need of economic difficulties—proceeds from every purchase at her business to help fund these causes with the support of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
